About Me
* NEW ALBUM “HOME” NOW AVAILABLE IN HARD-COPY AT GIGS AND SOON TO BE RELEASED VIA ALL MAJOR DOWNLOAD SITES *

BENITA JOHNSON is an unsigned singer-songwriter with several years of writing, recording and performance behind her. She has supported the likes of Hugh Cornwell (The Stranglers), Boo Hewerdine and Patrick Duff (Strangelove) and performed on stages at large and small festivals, pubs, restaurants, theatres and dedicated music venues across England and beyond.

Her songs are dynamic and accessible. At times you could hear a pin drop as she spellbinds her audience with some soulful reverie. The next thing you know you’ll be pinned to the back wall or hanging onto tent pegs with the sheer power of her vocal delivery.

Benita’s first album “You Should Know…,” released on her own label in 2010, is available to order or download from her website. Her limited edition EP “Stars & Fireflies” is also available for download via most digital distributors. Here are some of the things that other people have said about her music :

“I know we have a lot of home-grown female singers who are very underrated but Benita is quite simply the possessor of one of the best voices to come out of the U.K. in many a year. . it’s not folk and it’s not rock or pop, it’s Benita Johnson doing her thing and it’s beautiful. . . simply breathtaking. . .”

Malcolm Carter, Penny Black Music Reviews

“Grandiose, poetic and almost spiritual”

Alfie Kingston, Sound Music Reviews

“Her song-writing is top-quality stuff, and it’s music that you just gotta hear for yourself. . . I’d be surprised if you’re not convinced you’re in the presence of an unsung genius”.

David Kidman, Netrhythms Reviews

“Gorgeous voice, wonderful melodies; folk with a soulful, sassy heart”

Hi, sorry, not taking any house concert bookings for the moment (summer!) and have a major one lined up for the autumn too, but good to hear what's out there - hope you get some good gigs.

Hi,

Hope you’re having a great day. Just wanted to drop you a line to tell you a little about Roosevelt Bandwagon:

Roosevelt Bandwagon's personnel currently reside in London, UK. The band comprises a fluid line-up of extremely experienced musicians who have been writing, recording and touring internationally in various guises for many years. The ethos is to play the music that comes most naturally to its members with absolutely no consideration whatsoever for the trends, fashions and formulae of the commercial music industry.

Having played house concerts many times in the States in years gone by we love the idea of the House Concert Hub – it is certainly more focused than other social networking sites and far more friendly!!!

We’re currently doing sessions for a full length album which should be ready by May of this year. In the mean time, we have put out the ‘Train Roll On’ EP. We have a limited edition of free pressings which we’re mailing out to those people who request it – hurry and drop us a line before we run out! Tracks can also be heard on our home page/ visit us on myspace: www.myspace.com/rooseveltbandwagon where you can download the tracks for free.

Do please drop us a line – we’d love to hear your thoughts on our music/ have you as a friend.

Best wishes & have a great weekend.
