‘Escape This Wicked Life’ track details:
Total running time: 19’41’’
Suggested genres: ‘Americana’; ‘Country’; ‘Folk’; ‘Skiffle’
Official album marketing notes:
“Quality Folk enriched Americana from the British heartlands … a remarkable debut” No Depression
“The brilliant debut album presents songs of lonesomeness, heart-break, drinking and loss telling it straight from the mountains with little more than a banjo, guitar and a washboard.
Hailing from the green hills and valleys of 'Lawrence country' some say that these folks have spent too long in the woods drinking moonshine. Mean and moody, they can break your heart or skiffle you to submission with their octane-fuelled drinking songs. It's a kind of "Up-Noirthicana" . Psycho-skiffle through to lo-fi Country/Folk sung by men of the woods. If they are not singing hanging songs in the darkness of the trees, then they're picking mushrooms or elderberries and sloes to make ruby red liquor to help them through the deep darkness of winter. Light a candle, sip some whiskey and enjoy. DH Lawrence & The Vaudeville Skiffle Show wish “Peace to y'all”
Seems Misky stumbled upon this scary story about Santa Claus and made it into a Christmas song with a couple of random #skifflers n' folk who got press ganged into singing ... It's a dark story of infidelity and madness and a welcome relief from SLADE at Christmas .... "It was late Christmas eve when he came down my flue...." ENJOY
Struggling for that unique Christmas present....?
You can download the song or e-mail to the one you love (...or don't!)
