About Me
DES HORSFALL

Working with various Roots/Country-Rock band line-ups from his West Yorkshire base since the late 70s, Des Horsfall has had, in his own words,“a few skirmishes with fame”. In the mid 80s he fronted Blues-Rock band Raw Deal that was managed by the legendary Alexis Korner until his untimely death.
In the 1990s Des was to be seen in hit videos on CMT and as opening act for Joe Ely, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris,Chuck Prophet and many others.
After a decade of studio engineering and production work at his own analogue recording facility (Valve Studios), Horsfall re-emerged with his Rustic Rock n Roll outfit Des Horsfall’s KUSCHTY RYE and critically acclaimed (Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance inspired) album The Good Gentleman’s Tonic, which was the first of a trilogy. The album featured Slim Chance members Benny Gallagher, Charlie Hart and Steve Simpson and was described by Ronnie’s old mate Pete Townshend as ” a killer record….KILLER!”

Now Des is back with the second instalment of his Kuschty Rye Trilogy. It’s called ‘The Bastard’s Tin’ and he’s brought along a couple more of Ronnie Lane’s compadres for the ride.
Pete Townshend wrote the music, plays guitar and sings a joint vocal with Horsfall on the album’s leading track, ‘Chameleon’. Kate Lane (Ronnie’s second wife and also his muse) had given Des her lyrics for the song after hearing ‘The Good Gentleman’s Tonic’, ‘Chameleon’ is a devotional love letter from Kate to Ronnie. It was written following their separation, after he was diagnosed with the early symptoms of MS.
An intimate insight into the life they spent together can be found on her commentary which introduces the songs in the second half of the album.
Des is currently undertaking acoustic duo dates with various guests and occasional ‘full band’ and solo gigs.

Swedish leftwing swing band Cats and Dinosaurs looking for gigs in northen Germany october/november!

Hello!I am booking concerts for Swedish leftwing swing band Cats and Dinosaurs Germany tour, and it would be great to add some house concerts to the tour! I have been doing a lot of house concerts with other bands and I love it, so I hope to get a chance to try it also with this band. We are a bigger band than most house concert shows, but I think it would work well. I'd love to find out what that intimate house concert setting would do for our music! This tour is the release tour of our third…See More
