Hailing originally from Maysville, Kentucky, Duncan grew up covering singer/songwriters such as James Taylor and Jason Mraz. He quickly became enamored with the classic rock of Queen, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles, and learned vast quanities of their songs through performance with his first band, Standing On Wood.
While attending Stanford he was exposed to a number of artists in jazz, classical, indie rock, R&B, hip-hop, and bluegrass, and incorporates a large range of influences in his sound. Though guitar remains a primary mode of operation, he has performed extensively on french horn, and has experience with trumpet, mellophone, sousaphone, keyboards, bass guitar, flute, and others.
