About Me
“The finest country rock band on the planet” – MOJO

“One of California’s unique treasures” – Dave Alvin

"To say that I See Hawks in L.A. traipse down a going-their-own-way path through that old folky Americana and classic California country rock thing doesn’t quite begin to describe the sheer scope of this band’s wiiiide-open vision. The short version is, they’re adding much-needed musical and lyrical complexity to the old forms, blending and stretching both the emotional and sonic terrain to thrillingly new and unfamiliar points beyond. Hear it for y’self to best effect yet on the band’s new Mystery Drug, another wickedly surreal blast of psychedelicized country and rock and poetic honkytonk chops.”
– John Payne, L.A. Weekly
“A superb ensemble with a serious pedigree in California's roots-rock scene. They earn marks before playing a note for a song called ‘I Fell In Love With The Grateful Dead’ but it’s a key signifier. The spirit owes something to Workingman’s Dead/American Beauty but even more to the Dead’s 1981 live acoustic ‘Reckoning’. Waller’s rich baritone and some smart, sharp and decidedly dark lyrics provide the cherry on the Garcia.”
– Uncut

"Their songs are rife with mournful social commentary, environmental tragedy, wily humor, outsider guile, and political undercurrent. Seldom has there been an album with such joyous music-making, such corrosive, acid-etched lyrics." – WM Smith, No Depression

2018 will bring two new releases from Southern California’s leading country-folk-rock band I See Hawks In L.A.: their 8th CD, with new twists on their cosmic roots sound; and also a very old timey acoustic collaboration with UK's Good Intentions, sharing songwriting and vocals with the award winning duo.

The Hawks are noted for their lyrical celebrations and lamentations of earth and ecosphere, odes to the endless highway, and withering social commentary—not exactly the trucks and tight jeans fare of mainstream country. They've built a loyal following around the globe from many U.S. and Europe/UK tours, consistently rave reviews from critics, and a serious presence in the top 10 of the Freeform American Roots chart (#1 three times) and the Euro Americana chart.

Formed in 1999 by Rob Waller and brothers Paul and Anthony Lacques during a philosophical discussion and rock throwing session on an East Mojave desert trek, I See Hawks In L.A. first gathered on the front porch in Echo Park, Los Angeles, drank whiskey and wrote their first batch of songs.

I See Hawks In L.A. are headliners at McCabes, Old Town School of Folk Music Chicago, Slims, Joe’s Pub NYC, Grand Performances (L.A.) and other top national venues.

Festival appearances: Stagecoach (2x), Strawberry Festival (CA), Down On The Farm (Halden, Norway), Maverick Fest (UK), Solas Fest (UK), Belladrum Tartan Heart (UK), Hempfest (Seattle), French Broad River Fest (NC), Earagail Arts Festival (Northern Ireland), Westport Bluegrass Festival (Ireland), Celtic Fusion Fest & Earagail Arts Festival (Ireland), Carter Ranch Fest (CA), Frogtown Artwalk (CA), Humboldt Summer Music And Arts Festival (CA), Cadenberge Festival (Germany), Albino Skunkfest (SC), Silverlake Street Scene (CA), Santa Monica Music Festival (CA), Los Feliz Street Scene (CA)

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch, it would be great to have you guys come visit but first I must let you know that our House Concerts run every Sunday in July and August and are literally in someones house (some folk miss this bit!) so normally our maximum capacity is 35 people and it is payment by donation, saying that the fine folk of the Isle of Skye are very generous.

In terms of logistics how many are in the band and which instruments will you play, this does affect which house we put you in. Also isle of Skye is way up in the North West of Scotland so trying to get another gig on Skye or in the Inverness area  would make it worthwhile, if you wanted I could try and help you with this.

I had a quick peek at your website and Ive been humming your track all morning!

Have think and let me know if we can help,

cheers for now

Pam

Swedish leftwing swing band Cats and Dinosaurs looking for gigs in northen Germany october/november!

Hello!I am booking concerts for Swedish leftwing swing band Cats and Dinosaurs Germany tour, and it would be great to add some house concerts to the tour! I have been doing a lot of house concerts with other bands and I love it, so I hope to get a chance to try it also with this band. We are a bigger band than most house concert shows, but I think it would work well. I'd love to find out what that intimate house concert setting would do for our music! This tour is the release tour of our third…See More
