Profile Information

What is your name (and name of your House Concert if host)?
James Bar Bowen: Better Than Telly concerts
Web Address
http://www.myspace.com/jamesbarbowen
Are you an artist host and/or concert goer?
Artist, Host, I'm interested in attending House Concerts
If gig goer, what is your local house concert contact details?
We put on house concerts just outside Huddersfield. Always looking for interesting, under-the-radar performers, political singer-songwriters and unusual performances. Anything considered, but we are not interested in the conservative folk mainstream or self-obsessed naval-gazers - we want something a bit more radical and original than that!
If host are you an open house concert? ie Can non members apply?
Yes
About Me
I am a experienced and well-traveled singer songwriter, and have just won the Raise Your Banners festival political songwriting competition in Bradford (Nov 09). I have been likened to Billy Bragg and The Men They Couldn't Hang, but I throw in a whole load of other influences and ideas (from skapunk to bluegrass, popsongs and politics, and a big dose of storytelling and humour). It's always a joy to attend, play and host house concerts, and I would very much like to come and play at yours... Or you could come and play at mine.

Hey there Oliver! Interested in booking a couple of Canadians with a deliciously diverse set? Spare us a listen and you won’t be disappointed! Reid is a regular on CBC’s Vinyl Café, winner of the John Lennon Songwriting contest – and danged entertaining to boot ;-) We perform as an acoustic duo, and have been booked for the Filey Folk Fest plus a few other venues and house concerts - looking to secure some more shows in the UK between April 26, 2016 and May 31, 2016. A little sugar in yer bowl to get you properly motivated…

Hello Bar, I'm a Singer/Songwriter (isn't everybody these days) I write songs that are sometimes quirky, sometimes serious but hopefully always entertaining, my genre is I guess; Acoustic Alt- Country, I can tone it down or rock it up, I like to explain the stories behind the songs when playing live if time and atmosphere allows! I'll be playing acoustic guitar and also tenor Ukulele. I don't play covers because I figure life's too short and why stink up a good tune!
I'm based in Newport, South Wales (somebody's got to be!)
Money is nice if it comes, but I don't know anyone who actually thinks they can make money from gigs, the important thing is the whole experience, meeting good people and having a floor or whatever to kip on :)
So if you want me to play sometime just let me know and I'll come up.
Alan

Hi,

Hope you’re having a great day. Just wanted to drop you a line to tell you a little about Roosevelt Bandwagon:

Roosevelt Bandwagon's personnel currently reside in London, UK. The band comprises a fluid line-up of extremely experienced musicians who have been writing, recording and touring internationally in various guises for many years. The ethos is to play the music that comes most naturally to its members with absolutely no consideration whatsoever for the trends, fashions and formulae of the commercial music industry.

Having played house concerts many times in the States in years gone by we love the idea of the House Concert Hub – it is certainly more focused than other social networking sites and far more friendly!!!

We’re currently doing sessions for a full length album which should be ready by May of this year. In the mean time, we have put out the ‘Train Roll On’ EP. We have a limited edition of free pressings which we’re mailing out to those people who request it – hurry and drop us a line before we run out! Tracks can also be heard on our home page/ visit us on myspace: www.myspace.com/rooseveltbandwagon where you can download the tracks for free.

Do please drop us a line – we’d love to hear your thoughts on our music/ have you as a friend.

Best wishes & have a great weekend.

Hello James, thank you for the information. It is a pity that you could not manage to arrange a concert in or around Berlin. If I knew how to organize it and what woul be necessary and important I could have helped you. You should support me in doing this by advising me properly.
Hope to hear from you soon.
And have a nice weekend.
Greetings from Potsdam

Hello dear friend,
hm, at the moment I do not know where you could give a concert. I think it all will depend on the conditions and circumstances. Where would you like to give a performance? What do you expect from it? Do you have any specific expectations? Also concerning the fee/salary? I am so new to all this and never took part in any such house concert. So, I need some more information.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Where are you planning your tour? To Berlin? If yes, I would like to know more details. Maybe, I could be of help. But still don't know in which way. Please get back to me.
Until then
greetings from
Susanne
