About Me
Solo, acoustic guitarist based in New Orleans.

Jimmy cut his teeth as a member of the psychedelic rock band "Ejaculation" in the late 60’s, playing weekly free concerts in New Orleans Audubon Park for the "pre-jam band" hippie community.
He went on to study classical guitar and composition at Loyola Music School and The Eastman School Of Music and formed the progrock/fusion band Woodenhead in 1975. The group toured extensively and recorded a number of projects, including the most recent “Perseverance” for New Jersey label Free Electric Sound. Jimmy also founded the New Orleans guitar collective Twangorama with New Orleans guitarists Phil deGruy and Cranston Clements.
He has been invited, both with these groups and as a solo artist, to be the support act for Bela Fleck And The Flecktones, John Mclaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jeff Beck, Adrian Belew,The Dixie Dregs,The Steve Morse Band, Allen Holdsworth, Billy Cobham, Tuck and Patty, Jeff Beck, Spyro Gyra, The Allman Brothers, Hugh Masekela, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators and others.
He has played the New Orleans Jazz And Heritage Festival over 25 times and has appeared at the National Theater in Guatemala city and the Public Theater in New York, Festival Internationale and Progday. He has toured the world as a soloist and as guitarist with with Dr, Hook, Guitar Slim Jr., Mulebone, Bonerama, Tribe Nunzio, and The Susan Cowsill Band.
Jimmy's solo recording Vibrating Strings was released in 2008 to critical acclaim.
Jimmy is currently the host of the Musicworks Series in New Orleans, a performance/interview concert featuring a different New Orleans musician as guest each week, in an acoustic setting.

A New Jess Wayne Review - Somehow Overlooked from 3 Years Ago

Just found this from the "Miews". I think it says some interesting things, particularly about ageism in music and the treatment of older singer songwriters. I think my feelings were hurt when he or she only gave a "6" on Vocals... but as I read on, not so bad in context. :) JESS WAYNE – RIDE THE RIVER (MUSIC REVIEW)RATING: 7.5 / 10Genre: Rock, Blues, AmericanaSongwriting: 8.5 | Music: 8 | Vocals: 6Location: Glendale, CAWebsite: www.jesswayne.comFor fans…See More
