About Me
I am a songwriter who writes songs about life, love and the pursuit of happiness! I have been told I have a very individual sound and I like to call it 'Adventurous Folk Art" My songs are a melting pot mixture of jazz, folk, blues, pop, rock and country - People say I have elements of Eartha Kitt, Adele, Rosie Thomas, Bjork and Billie Holliday in my voice.

I was raised on the North Eastern Australian coast, surrounded by beaches, waterfalls and rain-forests. As the youngest of seven children, I absorbed the sounds of my mother's talent as a classically trained pianist. The house was filled with music. However, when I was seven, my mother had a car accident that left her severely brain damaged. The piano was sold, there was no more music in the house and I was discouraged from playing music.

But, I had this urge to create music. I began performing on the streets of Sydney's King Cross, near the noisy and chaotic red light district, singing acapella. My rendition of Nina Simone’s classic "Plain Gold Ring’" led to a performance at the Abercrombie Caves Concert singing alongside veteran actor Jack Thompson. This lead to touring throughout Australia with the Cavers band.

I moved to New York City in the early 90’s. I always say it was an accident. I performed at some of the most popular clubs in the city - The Bitter End, Cafe Sine, The Mercury Lounge, CBGB’s and Tramps. My debut CD "Not Quite So Low" received lots of good reviews. Someone gave me a plane ticket and I sublet my illegal NYC rent controlled sublet and travelled to Austin, Texas to perform at SXSW. The first night in Austin I met musician Jeff May. I was married to Jeff until recently (ah but that's another story..)

Since moving to Austin I have released 4 CD’s ,performed and taught workshops in Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, The UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Australia. My song-writing talent and unusual style have been acknowledged throughout the industry and I've been a finalist in a number of prestigious songwriting competitions. 2 of my songs have been released in Europe on a compilation CD distributed by Warner Brothers. my songs appear along side Amy Winehouse, Christina Aguilira, Adele, Nina Simone, Corinne Bailey Rae and Yael Naim.

My last CD "Mad Mad Love' was downloaded 70,000 times in one week on Frostclick.com.

I just finished recording my 5th CD "Beating of the Sun". Jeff May did a fantastic job on the production and it was recorded in the house we shared. The marriage came to an end one week after the CD was completed....
