About Me
BIO
Tall stories – truth, lies and everything in between. A prolific songwriter and seasoned storyteller, choosing acoustic guitar & vocals as the main weapons, with occasional asthmatic harmonica. Expect to laugh and cry.

This is folk and country blues, with urban smarts. You’ll hear upbeat foot-tapping hoe-downs, slinky sultry mood pieces and beautiful aching ballads. Follow the bittersweet storylines, get caught in unpredictable landslides - songs that never forget you.

With his acoustic trio, Mark brings together many years of touring experience covering the Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival, St. Kilda Festival, Brunswick Music Festival, the Adelaide Fringe, the Darwin Festival, the Seabreeze Festival, the Woodford Dreaming Festival, countless pubs & clubs along Australia’s east coast and overseas tours to Bali and Vietnam.

QUOTES

"I think your songs are really beautiful"
DON WALKER (Cold Chisel)

"A fantastic lyricist and songwriter. At times as
heart-wrenching as running into your first love, while
as liberating as hitting the road with the top down,
Hilton provides a show to satisfy any mood, with
songs off his great new album"
BEK DEVLIN (Adelaide Advertiser)

"Mark Hilton had The LightHouse pumping,
accompanied by an all woman string quartet,
a band of accomplished gentlemen...
he rocked with abandon, loud and dirty"
BEN LANGFORD (NT News - Darwin Festival Review)

"humour and pathos with a rare stamp of originality"
FRED E. GOSTEIN (CitySearch)

Touring Europe July 14 to Sep 29

Hi folks - I'm an Australian singer songwriter touring Europe July 14 to Sep 29 and available for house concerts. I play acoustic guitar, harmonica and sing. You can see videos and hear a variety of songs on my page or check my website at

www.markhilton.tv

My style is labelled urban folk and country blues, but it's broader than that and draws from the traditions that are evident in the music of Dylan, Cash, Cohen, Waits, Drake, Guthrie,…

HI Mark, 'fraid the Sheep Dip Sessions are taking a rest for the summer after a gig in 2 weeks time and then probably not back until mid-October.  I have Sessions booked in November and Dec, and not sure whether I can host one in October yet 'cos of work commitments, but if I did, it probably wouldn't be 'til mid of that month.

best,

Michael

HI Mark

You're welcome to contact me about your tour. Our house is small, but cosy, and we often have Aussies playing. Actually I lived up in the Northern Rivers for a few years - around Dunoon, Kyogle... such a good music scene up there.
