About Me
Donald Forbes and Ally MacLeod formed Red Hook Rapids in the summer of 2010. Starting out as a two-piece acoustic Americana band, they were joined at the end of 2012 by lead guitarist, Stewart Campbell, and are currently developing a mix of electro-acoustic Outlaw Americana. Doing, mostly, there own material - though they're not afraid to throw in a few class covers ranging from Townes Van Zandt, Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, the Stones and Gene Clark - their sound would not be out of place in many a bar and honky-tonk the length and breadth of the US of A.

In the past three years, since they began working together, they have supported Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, Sally Spring and Ted Lyons, the Lush Rollers, Christine Collister, Michael Weston King, Suzette Lawrence, Jeremy Steding, and Martin Stephenson in venues across Scotland and with Martin at the Jazz Cafe in London.

Ally's album, Astor Place, was released at the end of 2011 at the Strathpeffer Coffee Shop and has gone on to great critical success being played on radio stations all over the UK, Europe and the US.

Red Hook Rapids first album was released at the end of June 2012.
You can read the wonderful review John Davy gave it here:

After a fantastic UK promotional tour for the album in July they appeared on the Potting Shed Stage at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in August.

The band were honoured to play on the Danny Kyle Stage at Celtic Connections in February 2013.

They play the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival on the Free Range Folk Stage on Saturday 3rd August @ 2:15pm.

This year will see the three-piece touring over in Europe and they will finally be taking themselves over to the States to perform several gigs in Nashville and Memphis.
In the meantime, they're gigging about and getting songs together for the next album.
The band are available now for House Concerts.

Touring with Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart

Well, it's the night before we set off for our first show supporting Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart.....and the weather has turned from an early spring back to an angry winter.....

We have a four hour drive to get to Glasgow and the Rio Cafe in Partick down, what can sometimes be, a treacherous road....we're gonna set off a couple of hours sooner than we normally would in better conditions just to make sure we get there in plenty of time....

We're so excited to be performing in…
