Terry Garland is known internationally as a master slide and acoustic guitarist. The artist’s impassioned songs, rare musical insight and depth make him one of the most innovative and praised contemporary blues and roots musicians. Terry’s meticulous finger-picking and driving percussive foot-stomping unite with his vocal prowess to create an evocative, engaging transformation.
Born in Johnson City, Tn., Terry’s musical roots were pioneered by forefathers of the blues. During his youth, he studied the sounds of Robert Johnson, Jimmy Reed, Blind Willie McTell, Howlin’ Wolf and Lightnin’Hopkins, who inspired him to follow his calling. “They played the blues on guitar or piano, just themselves. They were the music. Just a voice and an instrument.” Toss in the influences of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Keith Richards, and you will find a musical genre best classified as contemporary roots.
Terry toured with rock, blues and R&B bands before releasing his first solo album in 1991. He now has five albums to his credit, the latest being “Whistling in the Dark”, which is his first all-original effort.
Terry continues to tour throughout the USA, Europe and Japan. He smiles when he quotes blues veteran John Lee Hooker, “It’s in me and it’s gotta come out!”.

How do? I thought I might just stop by and introduce myself. Please send me a friend request if you feel it a good idea to stay in touch. From both an artistic stand point as well as being like minded in our endeavors it would seem that we might. Best regards for the Holidays and Merry Christmas

Hey Terry, I wouldn't be able to take on any more artists at the moment because I am a one man band. I am going to review things in the spring though so I may take on some new acts round about then.

Cheers for dropping by,

Stoo

Hey Terry, you are really good! I am trying to get a list together for Germany of small clubs around the country interested in presenting "roots" music . This might help people trying to get a tour together.
Unfortunately in our region, the pure blues enthusiasts are few and far between. When we try present this kind of music undiluted-- it is nearly always a financial disaster. The people still need it mixed with something else--rock or country. Then it works for them. But the time will come-- In the meantime blues is doing best in the big cities in Germany.

Flyin Shoes Review, Our webzine site (would you like to review or be reviewed?)

Drew Nelson heads up John Davys Noughty Hits.

Here's a best of the decade list; I'd like to have put both of Drew Nelson's albums in, partly because nobody seems to have picked up on him much and I reckon he's quite special. In no particular order. All of these I love everytime I hear them and some of them are definitely…

Patrick Vining Band -- Atlanta Boogie - Blues Boulevard (Media)

An Atlanta native, Patrick Vining has been playing music since he was a child but it was only when a friend played him a Muddy Waters record that he knew that he had to sing the blues. That love of the blues continues with his latest album, Atlanta Boogie, which opens with a Kansas City style blues, Everybody Knows. Vining has one of those lived-in voi…

Govt Mule -- By A Thread (Provogue)

To say that Govt Mule is a success would be a bit of an understatement. 2 million paid song downloads from their website, 7 critically acclaimed albums and sold out coast-to-coast US and European tours are testament to that. They open their 8th album with a bit of a Texas stomp and that’s no surprise when you hear that ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons has added his n…
