First UK House Concert- Huge Success

After many wonderful house concerts in the US last May we finally performed our first UK one recently with 'Lancashire House Concerts', at Fairacre Farm near Preston. The venue is wonderful - a very intimate 20+ seat auditorium with amazing acoustics and a great atmosphere. All the ingredients of a perfect house concert. Mark and Linda Wignall made everybody feel welcome as they arrived (to music from Mark's original 1950s 45rpm vinyl jukebox). We were joined on guitar by Bobby Burke, who has…See More

About Me
Tinderbox are an acoustic folk/pop duo featuring Monique Houraghan with a distinctive 'honey-like' vocal, and Dan Tucker with an intricate finger style guitar technique.

2007 to 2009 have seen Tinderbox perform a number of headline shows to capacity crowds. Additionally, they have played support sets for a number of talented and high-profile acts including Cara Dillon & Sam Lakeman, Corinne West, Kris Drever, Ralph McTell, Chas & Dave, Uiscedwr, Chris Difford (Squeeze), Megson, Aswad, Marcia & Damian Howard, Little Johnny England, Jez Lowe, Mike Silver and Johnny Coppin.

May 2008 saw the release of Tinderbox's third Studio album. 'Golden' was launched at Centre Stage in Bournemouth, with the band performing to a record-breaking audience.

Maverick Magazine recently described 'Golden' as "Quite inspirational really...a bit of a masterpiece". Maverick went on to describe Tinderbox as "Poised to ignite the acoustic folk world...".

Acoustic Magazine featured a review of 'Golden' in their August edition labelling the music 'Lovely, hooky and mellow', and Tom Robinson of 'BBC 6 Music' described the tunes as 'gorgeous'.

With Monique's powerful voice and Dan's delectable guitar style, Tinderbox are definitely an acoustic act to look out for!

Hi,

Hope you’re having a great day. Just wanted to drop you a line to tell you a little about Roosevelt Bandwagon:

Roosevelt Bandwagon's personnel currently reside in London, UK. The band comprises a fluid line-up of extremely experienced musicians who have been writing, recording and touring internationally in various guises for many years. The ethos is to play the music that comes most naturally to its members with absolutely no consideration whatsoever for the trends, fashions and formulae of the commercial music industry.

Having played house concerts many times in the States in years gone by we love the idea of the House Concert Hub – it is certainly more focused than other social networking sites and far more friendly!!!

We’re currently doing sessions for a full length album which should be ready by May of this year. In the mean time, we have put out the ‘Train Roll On’ EP. We have a limited edition of free pressings which we’re mailing out to those people who request it – hurry and drop us a line before we run out! Tracks can also be heard on our home page/ visit us on myspace: www.myspace.com/rooseveltbandwagon where you can download the tracks for free.

Do please drop us a line – we’d love to hear your thoughts on our music/ have you as a friend.

Best wishes & have a great weekend.

Just to give you a start, Osnabruck --Cafe Mojo; soulfood cafe with occasional concerts www.cafe-mojo.de
Hannover, Cafe Lohengrin, regular concerts in restaurant setting www.cafelohengrin.de
Münster, Jovel Music Hall (bigger) www.jovel.de
Hannover and Münster must have something more, but I think this region is not the best for music. Try also looking in Google to the West and North for better options. Look in the web sites for frequency and type of music presented and how the place looks. General terms may be Musikkneipen, Kulturbühne, Kleinkunsthühne, Live-club together with city name. Maybe Irish Pubs (nearly every city has one) would also have something for you.
Give it a try. I think you will be surprised how much you can figure out on the sites even if you don't know German.
I was thinking also, music groups who actually go to Germany and do gigs should report their experiences on the site here and then they can build up a list of clubs who emphasise the different music styles represented here-- to help the others. For the German artists who would like to play in Britain-- would be nice to have such a list develop from British artists initiative, and to invite these clubs to join.
House concerts are also happening in Germany-- but this seems to be very local and small -- I don't know how this scene works in Germany yet but you certainly have to be there and get the right connections.

Tinderbox-- give us a bit of time-- we're working on it-- getting our audiences used to hearing things they never heard before-- in small steps.
If you want the names of more clubs let me know.

Hi Tinderbox, You are really making nice music but I am afraid our public doesn't seem to like "singer-songwriter". I think it is something to do with not being able to categorize them into music type. Try bigger cities. One good option could be "Strohalm" in Erlangen.
Good luck,
Penny
