North American singer-songwriter-guitarist, Elisabeth Cutler, has developed her refined musical identity under the influence of Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Diana Krall, and most recently, Nora Jones and Ani DiFranco.
Born and raised in Boston, USA, songwriter Elisabeth Cutler, presents her intimate and refined acoustic-pop songs through her warm and engaging voice supported by her confident and creative guitar work. Blending elements of North American folk music with jazz, rock, pop, and blues, Elisabeth communicates with a natural strength and vulnerability from stage, as well as realizing her own distinctive sound in five studio disks of self-penned songs, supported by carefully selected American and European musicians.
Critics describe Elisabeth as a dynamic performer and band leader who commands the stage with a rare combination of fire, intimacy, dash, and above all, honesty, which has lead to her to grace stages as diverse and prestigious as The Bitter End and CBGB's Gallery of New York, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and the Kerrville Folk Festival.
Cutler recorded four disks in Nashville, TN (USA): two disks with producer-guitarist George Marinelli (Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, James Taylor), and the two other disks with producer-bassistJohnny Pierce (Juice Newton, Emmy Lou Harris). Her fourth disk, Hurricane of Change (2002), was released by the Dutch label, Inbetweens Records.
Elisabeth is now presenting songs from her fifth disk, Slow Release (2009 - Tre Lune Record/EGEA), recently recorded in Rome, Italy, with italian musicians and producer Filippo De Laura (Grazie Di Michele).
In 2008, she had the opportunity to collaborate on a film soundtrack with De Laura for Warner Brothers' italian production, Ultimi Della Classe (2008), writing the lyrics for four songs.
Elisabeth is touring worldwide on a regular basis and currently preparing to record and release her sixth disk of original songs in 2013.
Elisabeth Cutler is currently touring in duo with accomplished Swedish acoustic-electric guitarist, Mats Hedberg, who has recently recorded on a studio project, Hang Camera, with Billy Cobham (MilesDavis/ Mahavishnu Orchestra).
Mats is active as a film soundtrack composer, as well as producing and composing for his own project: Vargtonprojekt with Morgan Ågren (Frank Zappa). As a guitar teacher, he works as a columist-videoist for music magazines, and writes guitar method books (Carisch Publsh).
Elisabeth Cutler is the proud endorser of Parker Guitar Company, Fishman Transducers, and D'Addario Strings.
