talking to cats is not talking to myself. yay!

We just adopted two kitties, two weeks ago. both females: Paloma is 4 months old and such a cute character. Mia is two and a half years old, pretty and wise and plays hard to get. i love cats so much that sometimes it actually pains me. or rather, it fills me up inside with warm fuzzies. like, i'm gonna cough up a cute, little hairball that i'll actually delight in cleaning up! and these warm fuzzies make me feel like all in the world is perfect. which, in one divine-right-time way, it is.… Continue

Miss Quincy Wants You (to host a house concert with her, that is)!

It's that time of year in Canada where Mother Nature starts squeezing the life out of everything with her mean ol' winter claws. That means it's also the time of year when Miss Quincy and co. start planning a winter escape tour. Now, I realize the UK and Europe aren't as much a winter escape as say Tahiti, but who plays in Tahiti?

With that said, Miss Quincy and her trusty guitar/banjo player will be roving through the UK and Europe in February & March 2011 and the… Continue

From Is to Was by Jugalbandi - album review

Baglamarama kicks off the CD, sounding a bit Horslips-y, back when they were more anciently oriented before going chart-rock punk-ish. There are also traces of Third Ear Band, Popul Vuh, The Long Hello, and other ensembles dedicated to complicated classical folk airs, though Jugalbandi is a good deal more rhythm oriented, jazzy at times, progressive always but with the kind of mindset that informed Anders Koppel (Savage Rose) and others in the 70s.

From Is to Was, on the other hand,… Continue

November Dates and Mary Chapin Carpenter

played, a sweet gig at the Colston Hall, Bristol, for the promoter Mark Venus this last Friday,

There was small crowd to see the performers, many come to see the local Bristol songwriter Brent Ashdown.

By the time i'd got on to close the show some people where drifting away when down the stairs came 500 Mary Chapin Carpenter fans who had just watched her show in the main hall. Guess Given the fact that I fancy myself as a bit of a country man myself I'm glad to say i got a… Continue
