There is a growing concern amongst some fellow performers on the Glasgow music scene that they are continually being taken advantage when it comes to playing live.
The problem is the overwhelming majority of original music venues in Glasgow and it seems the rest of the UK do not pay the artists for doing so. This often undervalues the service and entertainment that is being provided.
Whilst it is important to have a platform for artists starting out to gain experience and… Continue

I'm just home from a wonderfull time seranading with the strains of my harp at 'Mellon House' which is situated at the Ulster American Folk Park Omagh, N. Ireland. I had settled myself down close to the turf fire to play and sing some old folk songs.
The audience were attentive and as I engaged with them, they chatted away to me asking quite a few questions on the history of the harp, how long it takes to master it and where the actual sound comes from when I… Continue

I'm in Scotland with a few shows under my belt. I played in Newcastle, supporting Laurie Lewis
at the Jumpin' Hot Club, did a show at Liquid Ship in Glasgow where I was joined onstage by an american fiddler named Hope Hoffman
who I'd met earlier that night, and last night I played a house concert at my friend Ben's flat in Edinburgh. I did… Continue

Re-tuning time is story-telling time.
Last Thursday, we hosted our first house concert. The artist was American guitarist Walter Strauss.
I have to say, it was a little nerve-racking wondering how many people would show up. We had had quite a few people say they were coming, but all the same we couldn't be sure until the time came. As it was, we needn't have worried; we had a good crowd (about 25).
As we had… Continue

This is a great idea, - not an entirely new one (healthy concerts got in there first i believe) but nonetheless we love the idea of turning up at somebody's home and doing a performance for people who are interested in hearing our music and a bunch of their mates, and actually having the chance to meet them personally in a relaxed enviroment. Buuuuuuuuuut an it's a sizeable butt as they say, is there enough of a demand for it from ordinary folks who have the time on their hands and are… Continue

Hello friends in the UK.
My name is Lorelei, there's a pile of information about me on my sites and on my http://www.myspace.com/loreleiloveridge site. I won't repeat it here.
Suffice to say, I'm on a projected 200-date tour of the UK in 2009-2010, to dig up the roots of my ancestors and to carry on my journey as an inquiring traveller and as someone who deeply and truly wants to know what makes us tick. As I share my stories and songs, I am equally intrigued by the… Continue

After reading our today local newspaper, I had my moment again. Maybe you reconize such a moment, in wich you feel like a victim. A victim of the freedom of journalists. These people are given you different kinds of feelings. But in my case, most of the time after reading the local newspaper I feel unhappy. I wonder how these people feel after finishing their dayjob. I hope they don't feel satisfied. I hope they do not sleep at nights. I hope they… Continue

Not just today, but every moment my mother comes in my mind I spent some time with her. I don't need a special mam's day. That is just for the commerce. Come on folks, every one also every mother in the world can use some extra attention every time, every day in a year. BE THERE FOR… Continue

The second CD is called Touching Souls and is by Acoustic Fusion, a musical partnership between Gil and Howard C. Holbert. Howard writes the lyrics then Gil composes the music and performs the songs, sometimes changing lyrics or adding if needed.
All songs are now on the music player in high qulaity… Continue

I am a serious music listener.
By which I mean, of course, that I am an anorak. I hunker beside the stero, clutching the sleeve notes in a sweaty fist and nod knowingly everytime I convince myself that I, king of the fans, understand every allusion, reference and sly invocation projected by my favourite artists.
I think the term "wanker" also applies.
I've been this way all my life. I like to be in on the joke - thus side-stepping much of the worry that I am the… Continue

From the Founder and President of Incubator Creative Group, Nate Sakany
I love to help early stage Christian musicians develop their ministries to the thriving level. And I've been doing so for 30 years. It's all about discovering, defining, developing and deploying your vision to reach your world through the power of music. Most of what is taught about the music business won't help you at the emerging stage. The realities for… Continue
