It's a good day. About 10 minutes ago, I was just finishing art school. 2 minutes after that I was married. 2 after that and we were living in California. 2 more and we had 2 kids. 2 more and we had returned to England. 1 more and I was playing music again. 10 seconds ago I discovered this great website. And in about 5 seconds from now, it's cheers n' ta to the first 50 years of my stay on th'earth. When I was a kid in the 1960's we dressed like miniature versions of our parents. Now we dress… Continue

30 years ago, I was at the end of 4 years of art school and playing in
a band, heavily influenced by English songwriting of the likes of XTC
and Squeeze. Then 'reality' kicked in, and I eventually ceased playing
music (oh the sadness) and went to America to pursue my career as a
graphic Designer. But Lo and Verily, here I am, 50 years old in a few
weeks, and the blessed curse of making music has descended upon me
again, like the Holy Dove that's lost its way. After… Continue

Well its week 2 of the Sunday Free Noodle and this week’s is a bit good. Its a remix of Dolls House by the mighty @pseudoambient
(Gaetano Fontanazza)- Italian ambient genius. Its called the - Its Working Right Pseudo Remix. The fact that that he put this Remix together before I’d even posted the stems is even more impressive. I’m really pleased with this one and I think hes done a blinding job. I really enjoyed hearing the track and it does feature… Continue

We will be recording a new batch of originals in the spring and are also looking to add some new players to the line-up to beef up the sound a bit (percussion, bass and fiddle).
Hope to see more HC members during the course of the year.

I think it's been last year since I wrote anything. Okay I know
that's a bad joke. You might even say it's old as the hills. I
have a friend that lives in the desert. He's always trying to
convince me to go out and visit. That I'd love it and I think
he's right. I'd love to go and visit him; although,
I must admit to a little fear.
What's the fear about? Not coming back of course I've been
in the mood to move lately.

1. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST RECORD THAT YOU EVER OWNED? The Beatles '65. It was an American edition that wasn't released in Britain. It was actually my mom's but I wore it out so much that she just let me have it. The second record that was mine, all mine, was a Christmas gift...Rod Stewart, "Every Picture Tells A Story".
2. WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE CONCERT THAT YOU EVER ATTENDED? A family friend worked for The Allman Brothers Band and he took me down to Lakeland, Florida, for a New… Continue

I wrote this blog about a month ago, commemorating the fall of The Berlin Wall, and I wasn't a member yet at House Concert Hub so I thought that I would include it here. Also, I'll be returning to Berlin for a solo acoustic tour in March of 2010 and that will mark the 20th anniversary of my stay there and will be in the 20th anniversary year of the fall of the wall. Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive of me and my work since I joined your network only a week or so… Continue

On Friday 15th January, the Cromarty Old Brewery welcomes Tony Cox, a multiple award-winning acoustic
guitarist from Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Tony has become a veritable icon of the guitar in southern Africa. He charges his music with African imagery, using all the finger-style techniques he had absorbed over the years from such as Leo Kottke, Sipho Mchunu and Noise Khanyile. And on-stage, he is warm and engaging with the… Continue

OK so moaning about making music is likely to elicit the response, "Tell it to the miners!" And justifiably so. As hard work goes, sitting in pubs and lapping up the applause from the dozen drunks in front of you isn't up there with deep sea welding or portaloo cleaning at a big festival. But God damn it, we've earned our right to WHINGE! It's what we do when we're together. And boy, is it getting harder out there. Nobody is buying albums, and at the same time, while the big dogs might be… Continue

I'm a new member here, from Alaska in the United States. I had already opened a page at the Concertsinyourhome.com site, and came across this one while working on some booking dates.
When I first began playing music and looking for gigs, I was making phone calls and sending out promo packages with a cassette tape! CDs were way beyond non-commercially signed musicians, and the Mac Classic II (along with the early recording software) didn't really exist yet. I got… Continue

Google translations of these quotes are below:
‘Westcoastpop van het zuiverste water
, zoals verderop ‘First Love Freezes’ en ‘The Night She Learned To Drive’ met hun sprankelende countryfolkpop het gehoor strelen….Tangle- Free World’ is een veelzijdige en bloedmooie popplaat, waar ook de meer puristisch ingestelde americana liefhebber, veel luisterplezier aan zal beleven.” -- Huub Thomassen, Real Roots Café
