Anny Celsi Touring UK with Nelson Bragg & Duncan Maitland - August 2017

Getting the band back together! The three of us have not toured together as a group since 2011.  This year, Nelson Bragg and Duncan Maitland will join me for a three week UK blitz of high-energy, high-flying acoustic folk-pop, ala The Byrds, Nick Lowe, Kirsty MacColl and the Beatles.

Nelson's day job is percussionist-vocalist with The Brian Wilson Band,  currently on tour and ending up in Newcastle, where we'll start the tour. Besides…

We both blame it on the Beatles

She's Texas and I'm Portland, but we both got the bug from Liverpool.

Tish Hinojosa and I start our spring UK/Europe tour Monday night with a show right here in Southern California, at Altadena's Coffee Gallery.  Here's a little write-up from the Pasadena Weekly:

Anny Celsi & Tish Hinojosa England, Ireland, Germany and The Netherlands

There's nothing like seeing the world with a guitar and a good girlfriend!  On last year's European tour, I joined forces with my dear friend Tish Hinojosa, from Austin Texas, who was living in Hamburg at the time.  Tish just released a marvelous new album, 'After the Fair,' which she recorded in Berlin with producer Moe Jaksch.  We had a blast traveling together, along with our Dublin mate Duncan Maitland, from London to Glasgow to the highlands of Scotland, and then throughout Germany to…

Last two dates in Europe: Brussels & Cologne

Having returned to the mainland via the Stena Line, I've been busy with radio sessions and last night''s premiere music event at the new Peter en Leni's Podium Cafe in Steendam.   Next Friday I perform solo at the Rock Classic Cafe in Brussels, and I've just added a gig at McMuller's Irish-American Pub in Linnich-Kofferen, near Cologne, where I'll be joined by the fabulous Roland Wolff.  I hear they serve great hamburgers and ribs! If you're in the neighborhood, please…

New album & European tour

Anny is back for her fifth European tour in May 2013.  Her new album, January, once again combines Brill Building hooks with a storyteller’s eye for detail.  Ghosts who haunt the corners of New Orleans’ French Quarter, winds carrying volcano dust from Iceland, boys who yearn to join the circus and the mystifying shards of our own broken-glass hearts – all are woven together into a travelogue of risk, resilience and renewal.  This latest flight of songs will hook you from the…

Texas memories...on the road with DJ

Hey all - I'm always looking for new earth to scorch, and yet I must sadly confess that I haven't spent quality time in Texas for several years.  The last time through (2004) I was touring with the late and lovely Duane Jarvis, mostly as an excuse for him to drive his Toyota van from Nashville to Los Angeles (where he was moving back after the Tennessee leg of his career...).  We had a beautiful trip down Highway 61, with a stopover at a small club in Louisiana where we stayed in cute little…

Just landed in Dublin...

...and taking a breather before the next leg of our European Tour begins.  We'll have shows in Cavan, Dundalk and Dublin, then head to Scotland for a slew of dates booked by our own Rob Ellen.  We've had fantastic shows and amazing experiences so far!  More to come...please check the tour dates and, if you can't make it to a show, there are several radio programs you can tune into online as well as a live stream of our show this Thursday night at Chapter One in Cavan.

European Tour Dates Update

The shows are coming together for our next tour! Check the Calendar page on my website for confirmed dates in The Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Scotland and England. There will be more to come as things get nailed down and we fill in the in-betweens. Tnis is our most ambitious trip ever - we will criss-cross England and be in and out of Heathrow (our old stomping ground!) more times than I care to think about. Along the way will be joined by musical mates to include Roland Wolff, Duncan…

The crunch of snow, the smell of the dark woods in winter, a new song for the holidays...

My friend Rich McCulley was hosting a night of Christmas songs at the Cinema Bar in Culver City. "But all the songs have to be original," he said. I love Christmas music - Phil Spector's Christmas album is in my Top Ten, and that's all-time, not just holiday music - but I've never been able to write anything about the holiday that made sense. But I did find inspiration and came up with something that really spells it out for me. As soon as I wrote the song I knew we had to record it and get…

Anny Celsi tour plans underway - March 2011

I'm starting to build our next tour of Europe, starting with a venue we were very sorry to miss out on last time - The Stables in Boskoop, hosted by Johnny Verger (aka Hans Koster). After we finally made it over to Holland via the Stena Line, and were able to pick up our tour in Leiden, Hans was sweet enough to come to our show just to tell us how much he missed us! We start there on February 26th, and there are more shows booked so far in Haarlem and Enschede (The Netherlands), Osterbruck… Continue

Booking Dates in Europe/UK for March 2011

As you may have heard, our last Tangle-Free Tour of Europe ended up being a little - well, tangled. We landed at Heathrow Airport on April 15th, the day of the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano eruption, and spent the next several days knocking around London, trying to find a way to reach our gigs on the continent. Sadly, several shows had to be canceled, but once we did reach our destination (via the Stena Line Ferry), the venues were fantastic, the food delicious, the people we met especially lovely.… Continue

Joining us on the tour...

...will be Dusseldorf's own Roland Wolff, of the world-famous Riviera! Roland will tag along on all of our Holland and Belgium dates, playing lead and 12-string guitar and adding his lovely harmonies to our vocal blend. Don't miss this international roots-pop mashup!

Reviews from Holland and Belgium....

Google translations of these quotes are below:

Westcoastpop van het zuiverste water, zoals verderop ‘First Love Freezes’ en ‘The Night She Learned To Drive’ met hun sprankelende countryfolkpop het gehoor strelen….Tangle- Free World’ is een veelzijdige en bloedmooie popplaat, waar ook de meer puristisch ingestelde americana liefhebber, veel luisterplezier aan zal beleven.” -- Huub Thomassen, Real Roots Café

Swedish leftwing swing band Cats and Dinosaurs looking for gigs in northen Germany october/november!

Hello!I am booking concerts for Swedish leftwing swing band Cats and Dinosaurs Germany tour, and it would be great to add some house concerts to the tour! I have been doing a lot of house concerts with other bands and I love it, so I hope to get a chance to try it also with this band. We are a bigger band than most house concert shows, but I think it would work well. I'd love to find out what that intimate house concert setting would do for our music! This tour is the release tour of our third…See More
