Listen again to the great Ralph McLean chatting to Hub founder Rob Ellen on BBC Radio Ulster about his quest to encourage concerts in peoples own homes, when the Medicine Show toured Ireland this year with Chuck Hawthorne and Libby Koch (featuring interview and session with them too) 35 minutes into the show.(click picture)
Described as "haunting and enigmatic" by The Times and "bold, exotic, impressive" by fRoots, I perform a unique fusion of Russian, Ingush, English and Celtic folk - a mix of traditional and original plus a couple of quirky covers - and have an intriguing heritage and lots of stories to tell.
I adore house concerts and believe that my engaging and informal performance style is ideal for them. While I have done larger venues (from Cadogan Hall to Kremlin Palace coming up in September), I much prefer the intimate, warm, small ones.
During my busy August UK tour, I have three free nights in North England and/or Scotland - August 11th, 12th and 13th - between my gig in North Shields on the 10th and Stirling on the 14th (plus Inverness on the 15th).
Would love to play a house concert or two and share songs, stories and smiles.
Up-to-date links and testimonials are below. A bit on the long side - but hopefully will satisfy your curiosity. A bit. :) Many thanks for reading/watching!
Hope to hear from you soon,
Mike Harding very kindly says that I have written "one of the most beautiful new songs of the last ten years... and she has a beautiful, beautiful voice":
