Listen again to the great Ralph McLean chatting to Hub founder Rob Ellen on BBC Radio Ulster about his quest to encourage concerts in peoples own homes, when the Medicine Show toured Ireland this year with Chuck Hawthorne and Libby Koch (featuring interview and session with them too) 35 minutes into the show.(click picture)
Getting the band back together! The three of us have not toured together as a group since 2011. This year, Nelson Bragg and Duncan Maitland will join me for a three week UK blitz of high-energy, high-flying acoustic folk-pop, ala The Byrds, Nick Lowe, Kirsty MacColl and the Beatles.
Nelson's day job is percussionist-vocalist with The Brian Wilson Band, currently on tour and ending up in Newcastle, where we'll start the tour. Besides his work with Brian and other artists, he's found time to release two critically acclaimed albums of his own.
Duncan, who lives in Dublin, has played with pop heroes Picturehouse, Pugwash and XTC. His “Lullabies for the 21st Century” is “a trip through the acid-tinged English foothills of rainyday sunshine pop.”
Tour dates start August 8th in Newcastle and continue through the 30th at What's Cookin' in London. See our tour page for dates and details.
We still have some open dates towards the end of August - hit me up with a note if you'd like to have us over!
